Christmas Spells! Mx Justin Bond Nath Ann and The Pixie Harlots 12/9-18

Hello Friends,

I know it’s been awhile and all I’ve been doing on this blog is promoting shows.  But it seems like shows are about all I’ve been doing!

First of all THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for making my season at Joe’s Pub and for making “Re:Galli Blonde (A Sissy Fix) at the Kitchen such resounding successes.

Now I’m writing to let you know that “Christmas Spells”, my annual Holiday show at the Abrons Arts Center is opening in two days.  Last year we played for only three nights and it went so well that this year we’ve added another 5 shows!

Part of the reason we’ve added the extra shows is that  late last year, after we closed, Hilton Als the venerated theater critic from The New Yorker declared “Christmas Spells” to be one of the TOP FIVE THEATRICAL EXPERIENCES of 2009. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

So we’re freshening the old show pony up and giving her another ride on the merry-go-round.

THIS SHOW IS NOT FOR CHILDREN -or childish adults.  IT IS FOR CHILD-LIKE  people so YOU just might enjoy it.

Here’s a little blurb on the show:

Christmas Spells is holiday variety show starringJustin Bond that will feature Dixie Belle: The Further Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, adapted from a short story by Kate Bornstein. Sexy, fun, and light-hearted,Dixie Belle is an irreverent slice of Americana set in New Orleans at the end of the Civil War that finds Mark Twain’s bad-boy hero working as a tranny in a brothel on Christmas Eve. This post-modern holiday camp-fest was chosen by Hilton Als of The New Yorker as one of the top five theatrical experiences of 2009 and stars the notorious Pixie HarlotsChristmas Spells will also include new monologues, cultural observations, and original songs written by Justin Bond along with twisted takes on more traditional holiday fare. All in all Christmas Spells promises to be a glittering evening of singing, dancing, and heart-warming perversion!
